Should I include the end date?
It depends on what you're measuring. To count the length of a stay or a rental, you usually count the nights (exclude the end date). To count an inclusive span such as 'how many days am I off work', include both the first and last day. The calculator lets you toggle this so the answer matches your situation.
Days, weeks or working days?
This tool counts every calendar day, including weekends and holidays. If you only need working days, use our Business Days Calculator instead, which skips weekends and public holidays for your region.
Frequently asked questions
Does this include or exclude the end date?
By default the end date is excluded, so you get the number of days between the two dates. Tick "Include end date" to count both the first and last day — useful for inclusive spans such as days booked off work.
Can I calculate days between dates in different years?
Yes. The calculator works across any date range and correctly accounts for leap years and months of different lengths.
How many weeks and months is that in?
Along with the day total, the calculator shows the equivalent in whole weeks, months and years, so you can express the span whichever way suits you.
Does this account for different date formats (DD/MM vs MM/DD)?
