How it works

  1. Choose your country to apply the correct national public holidays

  3. The calculator skips weekends and holidays automatically
  4. See your total business day count or the resulting date

How business days are counted

A business day (or working day) is any weekday from Monday to Friday, excluding weekends. This calculator counts only those days, and can also skip the public holidays for your selected region so the result matches real-world delivery and processing times.

Two ways to use it

Add or subtract working days: enter a start date and a number of business days to find the resulting date — for example, '20 business days from today'. Or count working days between two dates: enter a start and end date to see how many working days fall between them.

Why weekends and holidays matter

Banks, courts, shipping carriers and government offices usually operate on business days only. Counting plain calendar days can leave you days short on a deadline. Excluding weekends and the correct regional public holidays gives you an accurate, dependable date.

Frequently asked questions

Which countries' public holidays does this calculator support?

You can apply national public holidays for the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. There is also a Europe option and a weekends-only option.

Does this use federal, bank, or public holidays?

It uses the correct official list for each country: federal holidays in the US, bank holidays in the UK, and public holidays in Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Do Canadian provinces or Australian states have different holidays?

This calculator uses national public holidays for each country. Some provinces in Canada and states in Australia observe additional regional holidays that aren't yet included, so business day totals in those areas may be off by a day or two around regional holiday dates.

How many business days are in a typical month?

Most months have about 20 to 22 business days, depending on how the weekends fall and whether any public holidays land on weekdays.

Can I calculate business days for payroll or contract deadlines?

Yes. It's well suited to SLAs, delivery windows, notice periods and contract deadlines that are defined in working days rather than calendar days.
